![]() ![]() Reading her book made me realize certain things about myself, patterns and excuses I have made up to this point that made me limit myself from doing anything substantial in my life. And it’s only up to you to let go of all the justifications or why you can’t or why you won’t do things that will benefit you. Mostly that YOU are the only one that decides how and when you create the life that you want. At first, I thought the writing style too informal and cliche, but she really touches upon some topics that I felt I needed to “hear”. I decided to take comfort in reading and finally read You are a badass. I moved from Texas to Krakow, PL to live with my boyfriend (he’s from Krakow) and didn’t have a job, the pandemic + lockdowns, and being far from friends and family took a big toll on my mental health. ![]() But I was going through a very hard point recently. Now, I will say my life is still an in-progress experience (obviously, LOL) and life changes continuously. It was gifted to me by my boyfriend last year, but barely got around to reading it a few months ago. I was never really big on self-improvement books etc, but it has helped me jump start myself into gear. I recently read, “You are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. ![]()

He signs up for a full tour, until the end of the war. Caleb thanks Curzon for saving his nephew and bows to him. Curzon follows but is beset by Trumbull, a conveyancer and Curzon’s former employer, who Curzon had stolen from when Trumbull refused to pay Curzon for his work. Eben kills the soldier, and invites Curzon to meet him and his uncle Caleb at camp, to be properly thanked. There, he intercedes as a young boy, Ebenezer Woodruff ( Eben) draws down against a redcoat. He knows all he cares for could be lost at any moment, knows that as the son of an unwed servant, he could have ended up in a very bad place. ![]() Bill Furlong, almost forty, a hard working coal merchant with a wife and five daughters, knows how good he has it. This novella takes place in cold and wintery 1986 Ireland. This book is a short read but will stay with you for so much longer. Like so many small towns, people are struggling to get by, and people are being driven from their homes, heart wrenched, into the cities to find decent jobs. It is set in Ireland where times are hard, economic depression is settling in. If you enjoy It’s A Wonderful Life or the story of The Good Samaritan, you will love this book. One day, near Christmas, he makes a delivery at convent when he discovers something that doesn’t sit quite right with him. ![]() Furlong is making ends meet though, delivering fuel in the form of coals and logs to the townspeople. The town has known hard times, factories are closing up, and people are being laid off. They have enough to eat and aren’t living on credit. He has a happy life with his wife and five daughters. Bill Furlong is living a quiet, unglamorous life in Ireland. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't skip a page, don't skip a paragraph. Not for a minute does Moo lose its perfect satiric pitch or its pacing. In this wonderfully written and masterfully plotted novel, Jane Smiley, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of A Thousand Acres, offers us a wickedly funny comedy that is also a darkly poignant slice of life. Walker, the provost's right hand and campus information queen, knows where all the bodies are buried Timothy Nonahan, associate professor of English, advocates eavesdropping for his creative writing assignments and Bob Carlson, a sophomore, feeds and maintains his only friend: a hog named Earl Butz. Here, among an atmosphere rife with devious plots, mischievous intrigue, lusty liaisons, and academic one-upmanship, Chairman X of the Horticulture Department harbors a secret fantasy to kill the dean Mrs. Nestled in the heart of the Midwest, amid cow pastures and waving fields of grain, lies Moo University, a distinguished institution devoted to the art and science of agriculture. An uproariously funny and at the same time hauntingly melancholy portrait of a college community in the Midwest." ![]() ![]() ![]() For each season, we have road trips perfect for the time of year!
